Barrettes started to make their comeback toward the end of 2018, and now they are one of this summer’s biggest accessory trends. For so many of us women of fashion, this look was our favorite elementary school accessory. We wore our hair down with a part and a barrette on the side to keep the hair out of our face, and sometimes even wore one with a smooth ponytail. It is a throwback to the 90’s, but much more fashionable this time around! Celebrities all over the country are bringing back the barrette, including Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, and Chloe Moretz, and these accessories have also made big appearances at New York Fashion Week and the Met Gala.

This accessory can be used to help cover up a bad hair day, or styled for a night out. They come in a wide variety of styles, shapes, and sizes. Slick your hair back and add in a few simple metal barrettes on the side for a sleek minimal look, or transform any bun or ponytail into an instant classy look with a gorgeous jeweled barrette. You can even find barrettes with designs and words on them.

We all love a good scrunchie, but have you tried hair scarves yet? This is another great hair accessory that has been becoming more popular over the past few months. Alicia Keys, among other celebrities, have helped in popularizing this recent trend. Hair scarves are usually thin and made of silk, so not only are they fashionable, but they are a great alternative to hair bands which cause split ends or cotton scrunchies that suck moisture from your hair. Not to mention, hair scarves mean no more ponytail dents!  If you are looking for less breakage and healthier hair, and especially if you have curly or textured hair, a silk hair scarf is a must-have. 

There are so many fantastic ways to utilize this accessory in your everyday look. You can tie it around your ponytail like a ribbon or in a cute bow around your bun. You could also wear it like a headband with your hair down or in a low bun. Another great look is to weave the hair scarf into your braid. If you get tired of wearing the scarf in your hair, take it out and tie it around your neck or waist. This accessory is so versatile and simple, a classic option for all wardrobes. 

Hair scarves add a different dynamic to your typical casual outfit and make it more eye-catching. They are a great way to add a pop of color or a cute pattern to your look, or just some extra volume. Ideally, if you are looking to wear a scarf as a hair scarf, you want it to be pretty thin (rather than your typical neck scarf), because it wraps around and through the hair easier. Pearls have also been making a comeback in this summer’s hottest accessory trends, but not quite as we all remember. Years ago, pearls were considered a conservative accessory choice, often paired alongside a knee-length dress or a solid-colored cardigan. They were usually very simplistic and classic, an accessory that all ladies should possess.

Recently, timeless pearls have been making a new, bold appearance in all kinds of accessories. You can find pearls on flamboyant earrings, rings, necklaces, and even ankle bracelets. No doubt, Pearls are taking on an edgier vibe this summer. With this change in style, it isn’t unusual to see somebody wearing pearls while in a very casual environment, such as walking the beach or running an errand.

Pearls are also being combined with other trends at the moment, such as sea shells. Sea shells are all the rage right now, so it is common to see these two trends come together. Another huge trend that pearls are jumping in with is barrettes. Pearl barrettes are an extra hot commodity this summer and can immediately dress up any outfit. Bucket bags are all over the internet, making them one of the cutest bag accessories for this summer. Bucket bags have been a popular choice throughout the past eighty years or so, first being introduced in 1940 and making their comebacks in the 60’s, 80’s, and again in the past few years. They are convenient to use, often dawning a drawstring at the top, and offer plenty of space for all of your belongings. Most of the time, bucket bags are deeper than they are wide, so awkwardly-shaped items that may not fit in a normal purse will typically fit in a bucket bag. 

Some of my favorites look like picnic baskets or wicker baskets, which are so cute, except these are able to be used for your everyday outings! You can also dress up a bucket bag by purchasing a classic leather one. Shopbop has some of the best choices out there, from classic faux leather to calf hair to rattan materials. 

In addition to materials, bucket bags come in many sizes. If you only carry your phone, a little bit of make-up, wallet, and keys, you probably want to opt for a small bucket bag. However, if you basically carry your bedroom with you everywhere you go, there are plenty of huge bucket bags to choose from. There are definitely enough options for every look and adventure, so whether you are going to the beach or going out to a nice dinner, you should be able to find a bucket bag that suits your style!

Last but not least, we come to the shopper bags. This is a very unique trend because there is such a wide variety of these bags. However, they are so incredibly practical. First, they can fit so much stuff! Are you a notorious over-packer? Do you never clean your purse out because you can think of a time where you might need everything that is in there? Are you going between work to errands to a night on the town with no time in between to stop at home? Then this is the bag for you! 

There are many different styles of shopper bags, from shoulder bags to totes. Some are made of soft material that easily molds to your belongings and the space it is in, while others are firmer and more protective. They come in all kinds of patterns and designs, so you are sure to find one that fits your taste. 

Shopper bags are easy to use while going to the farmer’s market or to the mall, and can even be dressed up for a date night. Their versatility is one of the things people love most about these bags.
